Alice G. Riegle, Colorado

Alice G. Riegle, 97, of Broomfield, Colo., died Jan. 15, 2002. Graveside services were held Monday, Jan. 21 at Fairview Cemetery in Madison County. A memorial service will be held Saturday Feb. 9 at the Lutheran Church of Hope in Broomfield.

Alice Riegle was born Nov. 8, 1904 in Madison County to John T. and Bertha (McCorkle) McDonald. She graduated from Iowa Methodist Schood of Nursing in 1926. On Jan. 15, 1927, she married J. Floyd Riegle in Dallas County. She and her husband farmed and ran a hatchery. Following Floyd's death in 1965, she moved to Broomfield. Alice worked at Lutheran Hospital in Wheat Ridge, Colo., until age 75. She then worked part time at the Lutheran Nursing Home until age 80. Alice was active in the Golden Age group, Questers, the Lutheran Church of Hope, Lutheran World Relief and the Colorado Mountain Club. She was runner-up for Colorado Mother of the Year in 1968.

She is survived by two daughters, Mabel Massey (husband Ralph) of Broomfield and Dr. Elaine Riegle of Jonesburg, Mo.; two sons, Dr. Gail Riegle (wife Barbara) of Okemos, Mich.. and Seth Riegle of Alexander, Va.; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Arrangements were handled by Collins Oak Park Chapel in Winterset.
