Wayne S. Ridout, 85, of Lorimor died of complications of pneumonia Jan. 25, 2002 at Greenfield Care Center.

Funeral services were held Monday, Jan. 28, at the First United Methodist Church in Winterset with the Rev. Robert Barrick officiating. Burial was at Winterset Cemetery.

Wayne Ridout was born March 27, 1916 in Madison County to Samuel O. and Caroline (Hart) Ridout. He was a 1934 graduate of Winterset High School. On Oct. 5, 1936, he married Flossie Louise Shearer in Madison County. A retired farmer, Wayne had resided in Madison and Adair counties, having spent most of his lifetime in Madison county. He also had been an assistant 4-H leader.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son; two brothers; five sisters; and two grandsons.

He is survived by his wife, Flossie of Greenfield; three sons, Bill Ridout (wife Evelyn) and Gary Ridout (wife Kathy) both of Lorimor and Ray Ridout (wife Betty) of Van Meter; a daughter, Karen Williams (fiance Tim) of Waukee; a sister, Lorna Jones of Fontanelle; 14 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the Adair County Memorial Hospital in Greenfield.

Funeral arrangements were handled by Collins Oak Park Chapel in Winterset.
