FRANCES L. SMITH, Arizona

Frances L. Smith, 84, died March 6, 2002, at The Life Care Center in North Glendale, Ariz.

A memorial service was held Saturday, July 27, at Grace United Methodist Church in Davenport. Graveside committal services were held Monday, July 29, at Earlham Cemetery with David Kuhn officiating.

Frances Smith was born May 13, 1917, in Winterset to Clark and Edna (Smith) Sabin. She married Clifford K. Smith in 1936. Following her retirement from National Handcraft in Des Moines, she spent 18 years in Phoenix, Ariz. Prior to her employment, Frances had spent many years caring for infants and children through Lutheran Social Services in Des Moines.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, five sisters and a foster daughter.

She is survived by a son, Clifford Smith (wife Bobbi) of Davenport; two daughters, Audrey Carter (husband Glen) of Phoenix, Ariz., and Patricia Grafton (husband Michael) of Des Moines; six grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.

Arrangements were handled by Kuhn Funeral Homes of Dexter and Earlham.
