Ellis Clair Smith of Monroe township died Tuesday evening, Oct. 23, at Greenfield Memorial hospital. He was 68 years of age.
Mr. Smith had lived most of his life in Monroe township. He was a veteran of World War I, serving with the U. S. armed forces in France.
He was married Feb. 1, 1928, to Mildred Rogers, who survives him. He also leaves a brother, Lon E. Smith of Tucson, Ariz., and a sister, Mrs. Carrie Farlin of Coeur D'Alene, Ida.
Funeral arrangements were not made available as the Madisonian went to press.

Ellis Smith, 68, died at Greenfield hospital Tuesday, Oct. 23, where he had been a patient only a few hours. He had been in failing health for some time.
He was born Jan. 16, 1894, in Madison county near Kasson and lived on a farm north of Lorimor for 33 years.
He is survived by his wife, Mildred, a sister, Carrie Farlin in Idaho and a brother, Lon, of Tucson, Arizona.
Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at Fellowship church with burial at Clarke cemetery.
