Earl H. Smith of Winterset died at his home here last Saturday, June 7, 1947, after several years of failing health. He was 48 years of age, and had been bedfast since last Christmas, after undergoing a major operation at Rochester, Minn.
Mr. Smith was the son of H. A. and Lydia Smith and was born near Lorimor April 8, 1899. His entire life was spent in that community until failing health forced him to leave the farm and move into Winterset two years ago.
He was married Dec. 12, 1923, to Elsie Winkler. They were the parents of two daughters.
Surviving are his wife; the two daughters, Mrs. Irene Dick or near Lorimor and Betty Smith at home; one grandson; a sister, Mrs. Carrie Farlin of Coeur d'Alene, Ida.; and four brother, Lon, Frank, Wilbur, and Ellis Smith, all of near Lorimor.
Funeral services were held Monday from the Lorimor Methodist church in charge of the Rev. C. A. Calkins, pastor there. Burial was made in the Lorimor cemetery.
