Earlham people were greatly pained last Sunday by the sad announcement of the death of Grandma Hill which occurred at 2 o’clock p. m., at her residence in the east part of town. Fannie Hill was born in Randolph county, Indiana, being the first white child born in that county; and died at her home in Earlham, April 28, 1895, aged 77 years and 7 months and 17 days. She was the daughter of Wm. and Charlotte Diggs, and wife of Mathew Hill, whose death occurred here some eight years since, and mother of J. W., M. D., Benoni, and W. R. Hill of Earlham, Mrs. I. W. Horn of Winterset, and Mrs. B. Stanton, of Perry. She was a life-long Friend and a warm hearted Christian, often giving expressions of her faith in Christ, and ever ready to aid the church in its various necessities.

She was taken sick Monday evening, April 19, with a severe cold, which settled into pneumonia, ultimately causing her death. Funeral obsequies will be held on Tuesday, at 10 a. m., conducted by Rev. Stribling, after which the remains will be laid to rest in the Earlham cemetery.

Mr. Horn and wife and Luther Hill attended the funeral of Mrs. M. D. Hill at Earlham Tuesday, and the door of the Treasurer’s office was draped in crape all day. The deceased was the wife of Banker Hill of that place, and mother of Treasurer Horn and deputy treasurer Luther Hill. She was a most estimable woman and her death brings sadness to all the homes of the little city of Earlham and surrounding country.

Note: Burial was made in the Earlham cemetery.
