Funeral services for Agnes Richards, 78, were held Thurs., Oct. 18 at St. Paul Lutheran Church with the Rev. Lisa Klein officiating. Mrs. Richards died October 15 at the Madison County Memorial Hospital. Burial was at the Fontanelle Cemetery.

Agnes Lapel was born March 2, 1912 in North Platte, Neb. to John and Ella Lapel and later married Howard L. Richards, Sr. in Illinois. A graduate of Fontanelle High School, she moved to Winterset in 1977. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and worked as a mail clerk for the GTE Corporation.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a step-daughter and a half-brother.

Surviving are two step-sons, two step-daughters, a half-brother, four half-sisters and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Memorials will be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church.
