Rice Services Held May 11

Funeral services for Vera Dabney Rice, a former Madison county resident, were held Tuesday, May, 11 at Evergreen Shrine of Rest Chapel in Colorado Springs, Colorado. She was 74 years old.

Born Jan. 30, 1907, she was the daughter of Gaylord and Mary Dabney. She grew up in the Winterset area, graduating from Winterset High school in 1927.

In 1941 she married Elliott Joe Rice in Telluride, Colo. Seven years later the couple moved from their farm in Madison County to Colorado Springs. Mr. Rice died on May 2, 1977.

She is survived by four sisters: Mrs. Helen Bruce of Highland Park, Ill., Mrs. Lelia Gregory of Atlanta, Go., Mrs. Doris Vincent of Winterset and Mrs. Alice Foster of Hollywood Park, Fla.; one brother, Charles O. Dabney of Vernon Hill, Ill.; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Interment was at Evergreen Shrine of Rest Mausoleum in Colorado Springs.
