LILLIE SIMMONS DIED ON SUNDAY

Succumbs at Home of Son After Several Months Illness

Mrs. Lillie Simmons, long-time Madison county resident, died Sunday, Jan. 15, at the home of her son, Irvin Simmons of near Winterset, after an illness of several months. She was 77 years of age.

Mrs. Simmons was the former Lillie James, daughter of Annon and Phoebe Reel James. She was born in Madison county Aug. 28, 1872. She was married to Robert E. Simmons on Feb. 21, 1894. Their married life was spent on a farm in Madison county, until the death of her husband in 1907. After that she made her home in Peru.

Mrs. Simmons was the mother of five children, one of whom died in infancy. Surviving are two sons, Irvin Simmons of Winterset and Lawrence Simmons of Peru, and two daughters, Mrs. Madge Nichols of Peru and Mrs. Lillian Moorman of Minong, Wisc. She also leaves five grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

Funeral services were to be held this Wednesday from the Anderson Funeral home in Winterset, in charge of the Rev. J. D. Stevens. Burial was to be made in the Peru cemetery.
