Thursday, January 5, 1950David Henry Tough, son of James and Isabell Tough, was born May 30, 1871 in Muscatine county, Iowa and passed away December 19, 1949 in Compton, California. He spent his early life in Muscatine county.
He was united in marriage to Emma Kistenmacher about 1891. To this union were born four children: Mrs. Clara Hayes, Muscatine, Iowa; Henry A., Winterset; Walter A., deceased; and Henrietta who died in infancy. Mrs. Emma Tough passed away in 1899.
Mr. Tough was married to Kate Bowlsby about 1903. Three children were born to them: Mabel, Des Moines; Mrs. Lois Gibson, Omaha, Nebraska; and Elven A., Los Angeles, California.
Other relatives are a sister, Mrs. Bell Els of Muscatine, two grandchildren, Lawrence Hayes and Mrs. Roy Searcy, one great grandchild and several nieces and nephews.
He was raised in the Presbyterian church and later affiliated with the Methodists. From 1905 to 1932 he lived near of in Earlham. Later years he spent in Nebraska and California.
Funeral services were held in the Methodist church at Earlham Saturday, December 24 at 1:00. Burial was in the Earlham cemetery.
