MARIE SMITH, Winterset

Marie Elizabeth Smith, 77, died May 15, 2003, of complications of Alzheimer's disease at Winterset Care Center North.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 31, in Corpus Christi, Texas. Burial of the cremains will be at Seaside Memorial Park in Corpus Christi.

Marie Smith was born April 13, 1926, in Kansas City, Mo., to Jess Monroe and Mae Pendagraph Brattin. On Dec. 8, 1943, she married Raymond LeRoy Smith in Corpus Christi. Marie had been a secretary for the Catholic Diocese in Corpus Christi, where she lived until moving to Winterset in 1997. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Winterset.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and a daughter, Mary Kathryn Smith.

She is survived by two sons, Roy L. Smith of Winterset and James P. Smith of Payson, Ariz.; a daughter, Mary Elizabeth Gipson of Corpus Christi, Texas; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Arrangements were handled by Collins Oak Park Chapel in Winterset.
