ALICE REES, 52, DIED ON FRIDAY

Mrs. Bernard Rees of Winterset died Friday, Feb. 21, at a Des Moines hospital. She was 52 years of age, and had been seriously ill for several years.

Mr. Rees was the former Alice Kelley, daughter of Neil and Ina Pearson Kelley of Winterset. She was born at Altoona, Jan. 7, 1917, but came to Winterset with her parents as a child, and spent her early life in this community.

She graduated from Winterset High school with the class of 1934, attended Simpson college in Indianola for two years, and graduated from American Institute of Business in Des Moines.

She worked as a secretary in Des Moines for a number of years, and was married there at St.Ambrose cathedral on Jan. 27, 1954, to Bernard Rees. They had made their home in Winterset since 1954, and she was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic church here.

In addition to her husband, she leaves an adopted son, Anthony D. Rees of Des Moines; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Neil Kelley of Winterset; a sister, Mrs. Willard Mease of Winterset; and a brother, Eugene K. Kelley of Newton.

The rosary was recited for Mrs. Rees Monday evening from Collins Funeral home. Funeral services were held Tuesday from St. Joseph's Catholic church here, by the pastor, the V. Rev. Msgr. John W. Higgins. Burial was made in the cemetery at Altoona.
