Services for Claude House Reed, 80, life-long Winterset resident, who died Oct. 26, at the Madison County Memorial Hospital, were held at 1:30 p.m Friday at the Collins Funeral Home with the Rev. Wayne Green officiating. Burial was at the Fairview Cemetery.
Mr. Reed was born Aug. 6, 1902 in Madison County, the son of James and Ida May Joy Reed. He was self-employed with a plumbing and heating business here but retired in 1964. He was a lifetime resident of the county until 1960 and then moved to Osceola. He came back to Winterset in May of this year and resided at the Care Center North.
He was married to Vera Cole June 29, 1920.
He is survived by daughters, Margaret Dunbar and husband Clarence of Ankeny, Marie Farris and husband Raymond, Highland, Ind., Wilma Oglesbee of Des Moines, and Fern Benge and husband Richard, Des Moines; a twin brother, Clyde Reed of Winterset; 7 grandchildren; and 17 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, parents and a daughter, Emma May Reed and two brothers, Ray and Roy.
