ALEXANDER MACUMBER

Alexander Macumber was born in Gallia county, Ohio, December 17, 1844 and departed this life Feb. 16, 1916 at his home near Barney, Iowa, aged 71 years, 1 month and 19 days.

Mr. Macumber came to Iowa, Oct. 17, 1853 with his parents and settled on a farm seven miles southwest of Winterset. He later came to the home near Barney, where for forty years he made his home.

He was married March 24, 1872 to Clarinda Culverson. To this union were born four children, all of whom have preceeded him to the other world.

Mr. Macumber was a man who made friends wherever he went. He preserved his youthful vigor until late in life and his enjoyment of sports, such as hunting and fishing, was a keen as when a boy.

He leaves to mourn his loss, besides a host of friends, his devoted wife, who patiently cared for him to the last, three grandchildren, one brother, Lindsey A. Macumber of near Winterset, three half brothers and one half sister.
