3-YEAR-OLD BOY KILLED IN CRASH
Small Son of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Lawson is Victim of Tragedy
Kim Lawson, 3-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Lawson of Lincoln township, was killed Saturday night in an automobile crash on the county line road, three miles west of Pitzer.
Heavy fog, which reduced visibility, and icy roads, were given as factors in the fatal accident. The little boy was riding in a car driven by his father, and was accompanied by his mother and 14-month-old sister.
The accident occurred where the east-west road, west of Pitzer, makes a T-junction with the north-south road on the Adair county line. The Lawson car was unable to make the turn, and plunged across the county line road into the ditch.
The crash occurred a few feet inside Adair county, and the fatality will be officially listed against that county.
The family was taken to the Dexter hospital. The little boy died soon after the accident. Mr. and Mrs. Lawson were seriously cut and bruised, but latest reports indicate they received no broken bones. The baby girl escaped with minor injuries.
Mr. and Mrs. Lawson have been living in Lincoln township since last summer. Mr. Lawson is employed at the Gendler quarry.
Funeral services for the little boy will be held this Thursday at 2 p.m. from the Bufkin funeral home in Stuart, with burial to be made in the Stuart cemetery. It is expected that the parents will be able to leave the hospital to attend the services, although Mrs. Lawson is expected to return there for further treatment.
