CARL RAY, 69, DIED WEDNESDAY

Funeral Pending For Former Madison County Supervisor

Carl G. Ray, a well-known and long-time resident of the St. Charles community, died Wednesday morning at Mercy hospital in Des Moines. He was 69 years of age.

Mr. Ray was taken to the hospital Tuesday morning after suffering a stroke at his farm home south of St. Charles. He was able to perform farm chores earlier that day.

A son of Levi and Mary Ray, he was born near St. Charles on April 8, 1893. He spent most of his life in the St. Charles community, and served on the Madison county board of supervisors in 1950, 1951 and 1952.

Surviving in addition to his wife are two children, Majel Miller of Minneapolis, Minn. and Max Ray of Des Moines; one brother, Fred Ray of Winterset; and two sisters, Beulah Alcox of St. Charles and Jennie Schmidt of Knoxville.

Funeral arrangements are pending. The body is at Reed's Funeral home in St. Charles.

Peru

Word was received here of the death of Carl Ray of near St. Charles Wednesday morning at the Mercy hospital in Des Moines. Funeral was held on Friday in St. Charles and burial in the cemetery there.
