MRS. J. E. MILLER Dies In Chicago

Dr. James E. Miller, chief surgeon of the United States home for disabled soldiers, accompanied by relatives, arrived in the city Monday with the body of his wife, Mrs. Jennie Pancoast-Miller, who died July 10th at her home in Chicago, of apoplexy. Mrs. Miller was 51 years old.

The funeral services were held at the M. E. church on Monday at 2:30 p.m. Rev. Hohanshelt conducted the services and her remains were placed in the family lot beside her daughter, Grace, who died in infancy.

The funeral party consisted of Dr. Miller, his children, Mrs. Bertram Hanson, Omaha, Mrs. Mamie Freburg of Chicago, Mrs. Margaret Peterson of Chicago, Miss Averilla and James E. Miller, Jr., of Chicago, four grandchildren, Mrs. Geo. Miller and Mr. and Mrs. C. B. Worthing of Des Moines.

JENNIE PANCOAST MILLER

Jennie P. Pancoast, daughter of J W. and Nancy Pancoast, was born near Libertyville, Jefferson county, Iowa, October 6, 1862, and died of apoplexy in her apartment home in Chicago, Illinois, July 10, 1914, aged 51 years, 9 months and 4 days. She was married to James E. Miller, son of Rev. George W. Miller, January 30, 1881 at Libertyville, Iowa. With her husband she came to Winterset as a bride.

To them were born six children, Grace died in infancy, and is buried in Winterset. The living children are Mrs. Averilla, Mrs. Bertine Hanson, of Omaha, Nebraska; Mrs. Mamie Friburg, of Chicago; Mrs. Margaret Peterson, of Peoria, Illinois; and James E. Miller, Jr., of Chicago. There are four grandchildren.

In 1886 the family moved to Des Moines where Dr. Miller was elected city physician and health officer, and later was government surgeon in the United States army during the Spanish American war, and at present is inspector general and chief surgeon of the national homes for disabled volunteer soldiers. His government official duties require him to have his headquarters in New York City.

Mrs. Miller was a member of the Capital Park M. E. church, Des Moines. For fifteen years she has been an invalid. Mrs. Miller loved her family and devoted to them all her strength while she had
health.

The body was brought here for burial Monday. The funeral services were held in the M. E. church at 2:30, conducted by the pastor, Rev. W. G. Honhanshelt.
