Services for Blanche Powers, 105, Winterset, who died Nov. 29 at the Winterset Care Center North where she resided, were held Tuesday, Dec. 2, at the Collins Funeral Home with the Rev. Zona Lautt officiating. Burial was at the Hamblin Cemetery.
Mrs. Powers was believed to be the oldest living resident in Madison County. She entered the care facility when she was 103 years of age.
Born in Monroe township Nov. 23, 1881, she was the daughter of William and Mary Davis Weeks. She was married to John Hilton Powers on Oct. 21, 1911 at Winterset. She was a housewife, a lifetime resident of the county and a member of the Methodist Fellowship Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Mary Winifred Powers Pope of Winterset; grandchildren, Mary Ball and husband James of Humboldt and John Pope and wife Dona of Winterset; and great-grandchildren, Leia and Lee Pope.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, five brothers and four sisters.
