Samuel Rollstin, one of the old settlers of this community, passed away at this home one mile south of Winterset on Tuesday of last week. His last illness was brief, though his health had been failing him for some time. His funeral was held on Thursday and burial was made in the Winterset Cemetery.

Samuel P. Rollstin was born in Guernsey county, Ohio, Feb. 28, 1835, and died at his home near Winterset March 9, 1915, aged 80 years and 9 days. He came to Madison county in 1857. This has been his home with the exception of a few years which were spent in the West.

He was married in Winterset Nov. 13, 1873, to Mary J. Misseldine. He is survived by the wife and three sons, Andrew, Colby and Arthur, also five grandchildren, two brothers and a host of relatives and friends.

He had been in poor health for some time and during his last sickness was tenderly cared for by his loving companion and children. Although he had never connected himself with any church, yet his life was one of integrity and usefulness, and he will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Funeral services were held in the Church of Christ March 11, at 11 a.m., conducted by Rev. L. F. Davis. Interment in Rock City cemetery.
