William J. Post, a resident of Madison county for half a century, died Tuesday, June 19 at his home in Lincoln township. He was 62 years of age.
Mr. Post was a son of Theil and Mary McCollum Post. He was born in Missouri March 30, 1899, but came to this community 50 years ago. His life was spent in farming.
He was married March 24, 1920 at Winterset to Marguerite Davis, who survives him. He also leaves four sons, John Post of Van Meter, William Post Jr., of Sacramento, Calif., Franklin Post of Jefferson, Carl Post of Stockton, Calif.; a step-son, George Post, at home; two daughters, Mrs. Keith Wymer of Des Moines and Mrs. Mary McNeley of Van Meter; 10 grandchildren; three brothers, Sam, Arthur and Wilbur Post, all of Boone; and two sisters, Mrs. Mable Mason and Mrs. Violet McClain, both of Missouri.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 10 a.m. from the Wilson Funeral home, conducted by the Rev. Robert Owems, pastor of the First Christian Church of Winterset. Burial will be made in the Winterset cemetery.
