MRS. SAM PORTER OF TRURO DIES

Funeral Services on Friday Conducted by Her Son, Rev. Claude Porter

Mrs. Samuel Porter of Truro, a resident of Madison county since early life, died Tuesday, October 20, at Madison county Memorial hospital in Winterset. She was 82 years of age.

Mrs. Porter was the former Sadie Leggett, daughter of John and Margaret Leggett. She was born at Polk City on Aug. 23, 1882. She was married at Truro to Samuel Porter on Dec. 25, 1901.

She was a member of the Christian church there.

Surviving are her husband; four sons, the Rev. Claude Porter of Redding, Calif., Ralph and Fon Porter of Truro, and Melville Porter of Ralston, Nebr.; three daughters, Mrs. Rena Goodell of Omaha, Mrs. Ethel Bates of Murray and Mrs. Nellie Parker of Truro; 30 grandchildren; 43 great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren. She also leaves a brother, Fon Leggett of Hespyeria, Calif.

Funeral services were conducted last Friday, in charge of the son, the Rev. Claude Porter. Burial was made in the St. Charles cemetery.
