MRS. ROY PEARSON DIES AT 70 YEARS

Mrs. Roy Pearson, long-time resident of Madison county, died Sunday, Sept. 16, at a Winterset nursing home, after several years of failing health. She was 70 years of age.

Mrs. Pearson was a native of Jasper county, where she was born July 29, 1886. She was the former Millie Mae Patterson, daughter of Charles and Martha Patterson. In 1892 she moved with her family to Adair county.

She was married to Charles Cox on April 11, 1906. They were parents of three daughters who are now: Mrs. Berniece Phearman of Winterset, Mrs. Hazel Little of Chicago, and Mrs. Gladys Parkison of Earlham. Mr. Cox preceded her in death in 1920.

On June 10, 1925, she was married to Roy Pearson. They lived at their farm home for 31 years before her health failed.

She was a member of the Penn Center Methodist church, and the Marguerite Rebekah lodge.

Surviving are her husband; the three daughters; six grandchildren; four sisters, Mrs. Bessie Bell of Dewey, Okla., Mrs. Hazel DeVault of Earlham; and Mrs. Harold Stoner of Colfax; Mrs. Henry DeReus of Mingo; and three brother, William, George and Weller Patterson, all of Prairie City.

Funeral services were held from the Penn Center church Tuesday afternoon, Sept. 18th with burial in the Penn Center cemetery.

Millie Mae Patterson, second daughter of Charles and Martha Patterson, was born in Jasper County, Iowa July 29, 1886. After several years of ill health, on September 16, 1956 in the early hours of the morning, she fell asleep and passed into the great beyond where there is no pain or suffering.

She moved with her family to Adair County in 1892 where she attended the Mosher school.

She was united in marriage to Chas. Cox April 11, 1906. To this union three daughters were born: Mrs. Berneice Phearman, Winterset: Mrs. Hazel Little, Chicago; and Mrs. Gladys Parkison, Earlham. Her husband preceded her in death October 5, 1920.

On June 10, 1925 she was married to Roy Pearson. They lived at their farm home for thirty-one years until her health failed. She was taken to the Peterson Nursing home in Winterset where she was lovingly cared for.

She leaves to mourn her passing, besides her husband, Roy Pearson, three daughters and their husband, six grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Her four sisters are: Mrs. Bessie Bell, Dewey, Okla.; Mrs. Hazel DeVault, Earlham; Mrs. Harold Stoner, Colfax; Mrs. Henry DeReus, Mingo. Her brothers are William, George and Weller Patterson, all of Prairie City. Several nephews and nieces and a host of friends also mourn her loss.

Mrs. Pearson was a member of the Penn Center Methodist church and the Marguerite Rebekah Lodge, and enjoyed attending and serving as long as her health permitted. She was a lover of flowers and spent many happy hours caring for them.
