EDWIN ORRIS DIED HERE ON FRIDAY

Retired Farmer and Livestock Dealer was 92 Years of Age

Edwin S. Orris, a life-time resident of Madison county, and member of a family well-known in his community, died Friday, Aug. 24, at his home in Winterset. He had been in failing health, and had been confined to his home the last four and one half years. He was 92 years of age.

Mr. Orris was a son of Benjamin and Margaret Jane Orris, and was born April 25, 1864, in Louisa county. With his parents, he came to Madison county at the age of two years. They lived on a farm in Webster township.

His active years were spent in farming, livestock feeding, and as ----in livestock, part of the ----in partnership with his brother, Emory Orris. He moved from the farm to Winterset 10 years ago.

On Feb. 28, 1917, he was married to Lucy Welch of Winterset. His wife survives him. He also leaves a daughter, Mrs. Paul Downs of St. Charles; three grandchildren; and a brother, Emory Orris of Winterset.

Funeral services were held Sunday from the Richards Funeral home, conducted by the Rev. Warren Hile, pastor of the Winterset Christian church. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery, with the Rev. Fred Evans of St. Charles assisting in the graveside rites.
