Inez Ellen Phillips, 88, Stratford, died Friday, Nov. 27, at Hamilton County Hospital.
Services were held Tuesday, Dec. 1 at Asbury United Methodist Church, Webster City, with the Rev. Vernon Sorenson officiating. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery, Jewell.
Survivors include her sons, L. Gene Phillips, Stratford and Merrill Phillips, Frankfurt, West Germany; daughter, Mrs. Melvin (Ellen Joan) Timm, Webster City; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Opal Porter, Cedar Rapids.
She was born at Truro where she received her education. In 1921, she married Russell Phillips at Truro. They farmed in the Truro and Winterset areas, and later farmed in the Webster City and Blairsburg areas. They retired in 1963 and moved to Jewell.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1974. She later lived in Webster City and Stratford. She had lived at Stratford Care Center since June 1987.
