FRANK CALDWELL DIED SATURDAY
Funeral Services Were Held Monday from Methodist Church
Frank Caldwell, well known retired farmer and business man of Winterset died Saturday, June 30 at his home here. He was 80 years of age.
Mr. Caldwell had been a resident of Madison county since 1914. Much of his active life was spent in farming. In later years he engaged in the livestock and commercial feed business here.
He was born Dec. 11, 1875 at Hillsdale, Kan., a son of David and Clarinda Caldwell. As a child he moved with his parents to Petersburg, Ill., where his early life was spent.
In 1901 he was married to Elizabeth Armstrong, and they came to Madison county in 1914. He left the farm in 1928 and moved into Winterset.
In early life he was a member of the Cumberland Presbyterian church. In this community he affiliated with the West Star Methodist church, and later, the Winterset Methodist church.
He was the last surviving member of his generation of the Caldwell family. His only daughter, Clara Mae Vanatta, preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife; two sons, Clark Caldwell of Iowa City and the Rev. Woodrow Caldwell of Bakersfield, Calif.; 10 grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Monday from the Winterset Methodist church conducted by the pastor, the Rev. W. Steinmetz. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
