Resident of Winterset Since 1900 Was 86 Years of Age
Delia Sheldon, a life-long resident of Madison county, died in Winterset Friday, June 8, after five years of failing helath. She was 86 years of age.
Miss Sheldon was born in Monroe township on June 1, 1870, a daughter of Marson and Christina Sheldon.
When she was 20 year of age, her mother died, leaving five children, the youngest of which was 4 years old. She took the place of the mother in the home until the children were grown.
About 1900, the family moved to Winterset, and this community had been her home since that time.
In Monroe township she attended the Evangelical church. During her long residence in Winterset, she had been an active worker in the Methodist church here.
She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Funeral services were held Sunday from the Winterset Methodist church, conducted by the pastor, the Rev. W. W. Steinmetz. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
