William Penn, Winterset

William H. Penn, a lifetime resident of Madison county, died Wednesday, Oct. 21 at Madison County Memorial Hospital. He was 72 years old.

Born in Madison county on Aug. 25, 1909, he was the son of Frank and Clara Mills Penn.

On Sept. 15, 1931, he married Darlene Price in Adel. Two children, a son and daughter, were born to the union.

Mr. Penn was a farmer by occupation retiring in 1961. He attended the First Baptist Church in Winterset.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Ray and Ivan; and a granddaughter.

Survivors include his wife, Darlene; a son, William L. Penn of Des Moines; a daughter, Roberta Jacobe of Winterset; two sisters, Velma Phipps of Osceola and Delpha Costello of Dorchester, Mass.; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and one step-great-grandson.

Funeral services were held Friday, Oct. 23 at First Baptist Church, Rev. Phill Hall officiating.

Burial was at Winterset Cemetery.
