VIVIAN MAY HICKO, Winterset

Vivian May Hicko, 93, of Winterset passed away Nov. 15, 2006, at Winterset Care Center South.

A memorial graveside service was held at 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 20, at Cedar Memorial Cemetery in Cedar Rapids.

Vivian was born Aug. 31, 1913, in North Platte, Neb., to Lucy Belle Morris and William Morris. She was the youngest of five children. She had three brothers and one sister and survived all of them chronologically. Her father, William, lived to the age of 92 years.

Vivian married George H. Brewer and had two children — Pamela and George. They resided in Marion, Iowa, until his death. After George passed away, she married Joseph Hicko and moved to Green Valley, Ariz.

She is survived by her two children; grandchildren Holly Hipsley, Mark Varner, Cheryl Brewer, Lisa Brewer and Lorri Schaefer; and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one great-grandchild, Hannah Varner.

Vivian loved music and was the organist and choir director for many years at the First Christian Church in Marion, Iowa. She taught her daughter Pamela to play the piano at age 4 and taught her son George to always wear a clean shirt, shined shoes and to always say thank you. Her two children were her treasures.

Vivian had lived for 25 years in Arizona and developed a strong love for the climate and beautiful desert flowers. Her life was very full. She loved many people and had an abundance of friends through her 93 years of living.

We will all miss her smile, her laugh, and her positive outlook that she shared with us.
