Helen Butcher, Blencoe

Helen Butcher, 94, of Blencoe died Sept. 4, 2003 at Burgess Health Center in Onawa.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, Sept 9, at Rush Family Chapel in Onawa with the Rev. John Noer officiating. Burial was at Graceland Cemetery in Blencoe.

Helen butcher was born Sept. 16, 1908, to William and Hazel (Sullivan) Bright of Leon. On Dec. 19, 1925, she married Fred Butcher in Leon. She had resided in Blencoe for the past seven years. Prior to that, she lived in Little Sioux, Panama and Peru. Helen was a member of the Baptist United Brotherhood in Decatur City.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; four sons, Bobby, Donald, Darrell (Shortly) and Jackie; two brothers; and three sisters.

She is survived by a son, Logan Butcher of Blencoe; five daughters, Marie Sivard and Sally Brobst, both of Warsaw, Mo., Eva Funkhouser of Dix, Neb., Iva Leird of Whitefield, Okla., and Mary Anderson of Ashland, Neb.; 45 grandchildren; 94 great-grandchildren; and 20 great-great-grandchildren.

Note: Per input from a daughter, Hazel Sullivan was Helen's mother-in-law. Her mother was Laura Van Pelt.
