Maxine Buchan, Norwalk

Maxine Buchan, 81, of the Regency Care Center in Norwalk died Jan. 20, 2003, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines from complications of a fall.

A memorial service was held Saturday, Jan. 25, at Southtown Funeral Home in Des Moines.

Maxine Buchan was born July 21, 1921, to Herl Albert and Opal Sheets of Cambria. A retired school teacher, Maxine had lived in Winterset for the past 15 years. She had resided in Humeston before moving to Winterset.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and two sisters, Carmen Sytsma and Glenys Garton.

She is survived by two daughters, Carol Babcock of Madrid and Linda Vandell of Cumming; a sister, Jo Ann Benda of Des Moines; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
