LILLIE WAECHTER DIED SATURDAY

Was Life-Long Resident of Peru and Winterset Communities

Mrs. Lillie E. Waechter, well known Winterset and Madison county resident, died at the Madison county Memorial hospital, last Saturday, February 25th. Mrs. Waechter had been in frail health for several years, but her last illness was short; she became seriously ill, about midnight, and was taken to the hospital where she died in the late afternoon. She would have been 82 years of age, had she lived until Saturday, March 3rd.

A daughter of William and Martha Fenimore, she was born in Scott township, near Peru. Later she moved to Peru, with her parents, and there she was married to Ulrich Waechter, and they continued to reside there where he was in the mercantile business, with exception of two years when they lived in Oregon. They were the parents of four children, two sons, who served in World War I, and two daughters. One son, Lloyd was killed in World War I, and the other Henry, died a few years later. Following the death of Mr. Waechter, Mrs. Waechter and family moved to Winterset in 1921. This town has since been her home.

She is survived by the daughters, Mrs. G. E. (Dawn) Baker of Winterset and Mrs. Orval (Kathryn) Clark of Des Moines. She also leaves two granddaughters, Mrs. Edward J. Moore of Washington, D. C. and Mrs. George West of Des Moines, and two great granddaughters, Kathryn and Merry Moore of Washington. Three sisters and one brother survive her: Mrs. Daisy Creger of Truro, Mrs. Effie Essex of Des Moines, Mrs. Marie Collings of Dallas, Texas, and Eugene Fenimore of Carthage, Missouri.

Mrs. Waechter was a member of the Methodist church, the Order of Eastern Star, of the Women's Relief Corps, and was a Gold Star Mother member of the American Legion auxilliary. She was active in all the organizations of which she was a member as long as her health permitted.

The Rev. W. W. Steinmetz conducted her funeral services at 2 o'clock this afternoon, at the Anderson home for funerals, and burial was made in the Peru cemetery.
