RAY PATTON DIED FRIDAY

Ray Patton of Winterset, a resident of Madison county since 1907, died Friday, Aug. 2 at University hospital in Iowa City. His death ended a long period of failing health. He was 66 years of age.

Mr. Patton was born at Lexington, Nebr., on April 20, 1902 a son of Francis M. and Sara Alcorn Patton. He came to Madison county about 1907, and for many years engaged in farming. Since moving into Winterset in 1951, he had engaged in the electrical and plumbing businesses.

He was married at Bushnell, Ill., on Jan. 14, 1924, to Lydia Charles, who survives him.

Mr. Patton was a member of the Winterset Foursquare church.

In addition to his wife, he leaves three daughters, Mrs. Nora Mae Simmerman of Abbeville, La., Mrs. Norma K. Gladden of Norwalk, Calif., and Cleo Patton of Huntington Park, Calif.; four grandchildren; one great granddaughter; and three sisters, Mrs. Bertha Bailey of Winterset, Mrs. Charles Cameron of Macksburg and Mrs. Arthur Cameron of Afton.

Funeral services were held Monday from the Collins Funeral home here in charge of the Rev. Charles Updike, pastor of the Winterset Foursquare church.

Burial was to be made in the Winterset cemetery.
