Graveside services for Flossie L. Patterson, 87, a former Madison County resident, who died Oct. 14 at Longhouse Residence in Spencer were held Monday, Oct. 17 at Fields Cemetery, Clarke County, with the Rev. Janne Clinton of Truro officiating.
The daughter of T. C. and Alpha Jones DeLong, she was born Feb. 13, 1896 in Clarke County and attended Jones school.
She was married to James Patterson on April 25, 1917, in Clarke County, with the majority of her life being spent in Madison County. She was a member of the Methodist Church in Truro and its Guild.
In 1963, Mrs. Patterson moved to the home of her son in Dickens, where she lived until moving to Spencer in 1967. For the past 4 years she had resided at Longhouse Residence.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, in December of 1951; a son, Charles; a granddaughter; three brothers; Loy, Harry and George; and a sister, Faye Richart.
Mrs. Patterson is survived by a son and his wife, James and Edith Patterson of Dickens; two grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Effie Spencer of Winterset.
