Hal Orr, Winterset

Hal Orr, a long-time Winterset resident, died Thursday, Oct. 22, in a construction accident while working in Oklahoma. He was 59 years old.

Born Feb. 14, 1922 in Collburn, Colorado, he was the son of Harry and Mabel Wilson Orr.

On April 4, 1941 he married Vivian Allen in Grant City, Missouri. Two children were born to the union.

During his life Mr. Orr was involved in a number of occupations, including farming, heavy equipment work and 19 years with Penn Dixie Cement Co. He was also very active in rodeo.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a half-sister. Survivors include his wife, Vivian; a son Garry of Winterset; a daughter, Mrs. Patti Henry of Winterset; a brother, Claude of Winterset; a sister, Mrs. Kathryn Benoit of Winterset and a half-sister, Mildred Resum of Granada Hills, Calif.; and five grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, Oct. 27, at Collins Funeral Home, Rev. Kenneth Helmers officiating.

Burial was at Winterset Cemetery.
