Vanna Breeding Olsen, 86, of Ventura, Calif., died April 5, 2000, at her home following an extended illness.
The body was cremated and there were no services.
Vanna Olsen was born Sept. 1, 1913 to Charles and Abia (Cox) Breeding of Winterset. Her early childhood was spent in Winterset. She attended Simpson College in Indianola and returned to Winterset as an elmentary school teacher until her marriage to H. I. Olsen of Indianola on June 14, 1936. Following their marriage, they moved to Bethel, Alaska, where they operated a trading post. Vanna also taught school in Bethel. Follwing World War II, she and her husband resided in Prescott, Ariz., until 1950 when they moved to Ventura. Vanna was a member of PEO in Ventura and Delta Delta Delta sorority.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two sisters and a brother.
She is survived by a brother, James Breeding (wife Wessie) of Winterset; a sister-in-law, Lois Breeding also of Winterset; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral arrangements were handled by Charles Carroll Funeral Home.

Wednesday, May 3, 2000Vanna Breeding Olsen, age 86, of Ventura passed away peacefully on April 5 2000 at her home after a period of ill health.
Mrs. Olsen was born Sept. 1, 1913 in Winterset Iowa the fifth child of Charles and Abia Cox Breeding. Her early childhood was spent in Winterset and she attended Simpson College in Indianola Iowa. Mrs. Olsen returned to Winterset as an elementary school teacher until her marriage to H.I. Olsen of Indianola Iowa on June 14 1936. After their marriage they moved to Bethel Alaska where they operated a trading post in Bethel and a neighboring village. Mrs. Olsen was also a teacher in the territorial school in Bethel.
After World War II Mr. and Mrs. Olsen moved to Prescott Ariz. where they resided until moving to Ventura in 1950. As a team Mr. and Mrs. Olsen built several homes in Ventura and also built the home in which they resided until their deaths.
Mrs. Olsen was a member of Delta Delta Delta Sorority and was a member of PEO in Ventura. She had traveled the world and was keenly interested in gardening and flower arranging. She was also involved in sewing and needlework.
Mrs. Olsen was preceded in death by her husband; parents; sisters Veva Young and Evelyn Wight; and brother Farris.
She is survived by one brother James and his wife Wessie; and her sister-in-law Lois Breeding all from Winterset Iowa; and several nieces and nephews.
She was cremated and there were no services which were her wishes.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Charles Carroll Funeral Home in Ventura.
