Services for Elza L. Oglesbee, 85, Winterset, who died March 25 at the Madison County Memorial Hospital, were held Monday, March 28, at the United Methodist Church at Peru with the Rev. Clarence Lautt of Winterset officiating. Burial was at the Peru Cemetery.
Born near Peru on Jan. 1, 1903, he was the son of Vernie and Nettie Simmons Oglesbee. He attended rural schools around Peru and lived in Peru until 1975 when he retired and moved to Winterset.
Mr. Oglesbee was an employee of the Madison County roads department and was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Winterset. On March 4, 1930, he was married to Edna Boller at the Peru parsonage.
Survivors include his wife.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and a sister.

Services for Elza L. Oglesbee, 85, of Winterset, who died Friday, March 25, 1988 at Madison County Hospital, were held Monday, March 28 at the United Methodist Church in Peru, Iowa. Pastor Clarence Lautt of Winterset officiated, with interment in Peru Cemetery.
Mr. Oglesbee was born January 1, 1903 near Peru, the son of Vernie Oglesbee and Nettie Simmons Oglesbee. He attended rural schools around Peru. He married Edna Boller on March 4, 1930 at Peru.
He was employed in road maintenance for Madison County. He lived in Peru until 1975 when he retired and moved to Winterset.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Winterset.
Survivors include his wife, Edna of Winterset; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Paul and Flavy Oglesbee; and one sister, Ivy Cox.
