Roy E. Nichols, Winterset

Roy Edward Nichols, 73, died November 17, 1992, at Madison County Memorial Hospital in Winterset. Funeral services were held Fri., Nov. 20 at Collins Funeral Home in Winterset with Bishop C. E. Hyatt officiating. Burial was at Winterset Cemetery.

Mr. Nichols was born May 16, 1919, in Des Moines to Charles E. and Myrtle (Raines) Nichols. He married Merline Underwood May 21, 1939 in Bethany, Mo. He lived in Winterset for 27 years and was a yardman for Wheeler Lumber and Bridge Company. He was a member of Church of God of Prophecy.

Preceding him in death were his parents and an infant sister.

Surviving relatives are his wife of Winterset; a son, David E. Nichols of Louisville, Ky.; two daughters, Marlene Bortz of Ottumwa and Mary Chance of Winterset; one sister, Bessie Money of Winterset; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
