Former Resident Dies Here Nov. 15

George F. Nichols, a former resident of Madison County, died Wednesday, November 15 at Memorial Hospital in Winterset. He was 66 years of age.

Mr. Nichols had been a resident of Wichita, Kansas since 1952. He was a native of Walnut Township where he was born January 4, 1906, a son of John and Harriett Hogue Nichols. The first 45 years of his life were spent in Madison County. He moved from here to Sioux City and in 1952 to Wichita.

He was an aircraft machinist by trade. He was a member of the Methodist Church and a past member of the Masonic Lodge at Peru.

Mr. Nichols was married in 1931 at Winterset to Ruth Huston.

Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Hoye Henry of West Memphis, Arkansas; a son, Dale Nichols of California; seven grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Zella McCaugagy of Carlisle.

Funeral services were held Saturday from the Collins Funeral home in Winterset, conducted by the Rev. Newton M. Coughenour, pastor of the First United Methodist Church of Winterset. Burial was made in the Peru Cemetery.
