Marilyn Bence, Norwalk

Marilyn M. Bence, 71, died Sept. 22, 1003, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.

A Memorial Mass was held Friday, Sept. 26, at Christ the King Catholic Church. Burial was at Norwalk Cemetery.

Marilyn Bence was born to Homer and Eloise Blackford and lived most of her life in the Des Moines area. She was a former volunteer at Bishop Drumm. Marilyn was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents and four sisters.

She is survived by five daughters, Catherine Jacobs of Rogers, Ark., Joan Naylor of Winterset, Pam Johnson of Norwalk and Laurie Bence and Kim Allen, both of West Des Moines; two sons, Mark Bence of Winterset and Bradley Bence of Pinedale, Wyo.; two brothers, Carl Blackford of Melrose and Homer Blackford of Des Moines; three sisters, Judy Cron and Mary Dennis, both of West Des Moines, and Becky Solon of Des Moines; 18 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be directed to Christ the King Catholic Church or any women’s or children’s shelter.

Funeral arrangements were handled by Westover Funeral Home in Des Moines.
