Elmer W. “Mike” Baker, 89, died Monday, November 24, 2003 at Taylor House Hospice in Des Moines. Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, November 29 at Brandt Funeral Home in Dallas Center, with burial at Wiscotta Cemetery in Redfield, IA.
Elmer was born in Scranton and lived in Redfield until moving to Dallas Center in 1941. He retired from Hy-Line International and was a member of Dallas Center United Methodist Church. Mike was an NASCAR and Iowa Hawkeye fan.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Dorothy of Dallas Center,; sons, Charles (Jan) Baker of Silverdale, WA., Keith Baker of St. Charles and Dean (Lynne) Baker of Sierra Vista, AZ.; daughter, Joan (Bruce) Bever of Des Moines; sister, Bertha Park of Adel; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
The family will received (receive) friends from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Dallas Center Untied Methodist Church.
