ERNEST NICHOLS DIES AT 66 YEARS

Long-Time Madison County Resident Buried at Peru

Ernest R. Nichols, whose death occurred July 17 at Memorial hospital in Winterset, had been a resident of Madison county all but a few years of his life.

Mr. Nichols was 66 years of age at his death. He was born in Madison county May 18, 1894 a son of John and Harriett Nichols. His life was spent in the Peru community, with the exception of a year in Montana and the last few years in Winterset.

He was married Feb. 16, 1916 to Sadie M. Searls. They were parents of two children, both of whom survive.

His active life was spent in farming and he served as a local Triple-A official for 12 years.

Surviving are his wife; the two children, Mrs. Pauline Austin and Harris Nichols, both of Peru; two step-children, Robert Searls of Murray and Mrs. Margaret Mills of Stockton, Calif.; two brothers, Robert Nichols of Peru and George Nichols of Wichita, Kan.; a sister, Mrs. Zella McCaughy of Carlisle; eight grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held July 20 from the Peru Methodist church, conducted by the Rev. Mr. Lockhart. Burial was made in the Peru cemetery.

Funeral Held at Peru For Ernest Nichols

Funeral services for Ernest Nichols, of Winterset, long-time resident of the Peru community, were held this Wednesday afternoon from the Peru Methodist church.

Mr. Nichols died Sunday at Madison County Memorial hospital.
