Obituary

Susan Reese was born May 15, 1821, in Huntingdon county, Pennsylvania. Two years later her parents removed to Medina county, Ohio, a part of the country which was not very thickly settled, where churches and schools were scarce, consequently her father's house became a preaching place.

On one occasion when Susan was about 10 years old, while they were having prayer meeting after preaching, she gave her heart to God and felt that at that tender age God had power on earth to forgive sins. She was accepted as a member of the Methodist Episcopal church, of which she continued a faithful member until death.

In 1854 she married R. F. Warner. One child was born to them – Hannah Amelia. After four years of married life this husband left her to join the church triumphant.

In 1872 she married Jacob Hyskell, of Winterset, Iowa, with whom she lived 15 years, when she was called to mourn his loss.

In 1899 she removed to Prentice, Wisconsin, with her daughter and family, where she lived a quiet Christian life.

A few minutes before she died, January 28, at 2:10 a. m., 1901 she said, "Precious Jesus." She was loved and respected by all as a kind and loving mother and grandmother, a true and faithful friend.

She leaves a daughter and husband, W. O. Ruby, and their two children – Harry E. and Nellie M., and a stepdaughter, Mrs. E. T. Hassler and family, of Texas, and a stepson, W. F. Warner and family, of California, to mourn her loss.
