Ona E. Nelson, 85, of Fremont, Neb., and formerly of Nevada, died from complications of Parkinson's disease March 13, 1999 at the Merrick Manor in Fremont.
Funeral services were held today (Wednesday, March 17) at 10:30 a.m. at the Bacon Funeral Home in Nevada with the Rev. Steve Williams officiating. Burial was at the Nevada Municipal Cemetery.
Ona Nelson was born March 1, 1914 to Fred and Bertha Imboden of Earlham. She attended schools near Earlham and received a two-year primary teaching certificate from Iowa Normal School in Cedar Falls. She married Warren Nelson on June 1, 1938 at her parent's Winterset home. She and her husband farmed. In 1971, she moved to Nevada where she worked as a homemaker health aide. The past few years, she has resided in Fremont. Ona was a member of the Nevada United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, two great-grandchildren, one brother and two sisters.
She is survived by three daughters, Sandra Kay Allen of Fort Calhoun, Neb., Sharon Ann Bown of Beavercreek, Ohio, and Sue Ellen Nelson of New York, N.Y.; one brother; four grandsons; and 3 great-grandchildren.
