CHRISTINA NELSON DIED THURSDAY

Native of Norway Had Lived Near Blair Chapel Many Years

Mrs. Christina Nelson, a resident of the Blair Chapel community for many years, died Thursday, Feb. 7, at Mt. Vernon. She was 91 years of age.

Mrs. Nelson was a native of Norway, where she was born near the town of Olen on July 23, 1871, a daughter of Christopher and Anna Hauge Hextell. When she was 12 years of age, she came to the United States with her parents. They settled in a Norwegian community near Morris, Ill.

She was married to Axel L. Nelson on July 2, 1898, in Des Moines. They lived there several years, later moving to Franklin county. In 1928, they moved to Warren county, living in the Scotch Ridge community until the death of Mr. Nelson in 1944. Since that time she had made her home with her children.

Surviving are a son, Theodore W. Nelson of North Hollywood, Calif.; two daughters, Mrs. Bertha Koppenhaver of Springville, Ia., and Mrs. Katharine Bobst of St. Charles; six grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Bertha Atkinson of Los Angeles, Calif.

Funeral services were held Saturday from the Scotch Ridge Presbyterian church in Warren county, in charge of the Rev. Arthur Eady. Burial was made in the cemetery adjoining the church.
