Helen Marie Schaffer, (70), died October 19, 1993 at the Hospice Kavanaugh House in Des Moines. Services were held October 23, 1993 at St. Charles Parish Church with burial at the St. Charles Cemetery.

Mrs. Schaffer was born April 30, 1923 in Adair to Clyde and Alma Lutt Brownlee. She married Walter Schaffer on Feb. 27, 1944 at Prescott. She was a teacher and homemaker. She was a member of the Rolling Wheels Camper's Group and the St. Charles Women's Group.

She was preceded in death by a brother; and three sisters, two in infancy.

Surviving relatives include her husband; one son, Dick Schaffer and wife Dawn of San Diego, Calif.; three daughters, Marilyn Lawshe of Grimes, Patricia Faidley and husband Robert of Dallas Center and Mary Schaffer of Winterset; three grandchildren; and one brother, Eldon Brownlee of Cumberland.
