Winterset Madisonian - January 3, 2001

Mary Fern Nuzum, 63, of Winterset died of cancer Dec. 29, 2000, at her home.

Funeral services were held today (Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2001) at 10:30 a.m. at the First Christian Church in Winterset with Dr. Bobby G. Dickerson officiating. Burial was at Winterset Cemetery.

Mary Fern Nuzum was born Nov. 26, 1937, to Wilmer and Irene (Hooper) Henson of Winterset. A 1956 graduate of Winterset High School, she married Ray Nuzum on Nov. 17, 1956, in Winterset. A homemaker and lifetime resident of Winterset, Mary Fern had been employed as a school bus driver for 18 years for the Winterset Community School District. She also was a member of the First Christian Church in Winterset.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister.

She is survived by her husband; two sons, Russell Wilmer Nuzum (fiancee Kim Jordan) of St. Charles and Brett Randall Nuzum (wife Rae Jean) of Winterset; two daughters, Raye DeLynne Cook (husband Patrick) and Shelley Renee Molln (husband Larry), both of Winterset; two brothers, Robert Henson (wife Wilma) of Winterset and Don Henson (wife Judy) of Waukee; two sisters, Rose Mae Taylor (husband Ron) and Elizabeth McCollough (husband Dale), both of Winterset; and 14 grandchildren, Dustin Molln, Danielee Molln, Tiffanie Siebels, Greg Cook, Josh Cook, Trent Nuzum, Clent Nuzum, Benjamin Nuzum, Lexy Nuzum, Britta Nuzum, Reece Nuzum, Elijah Nuzum, Zachariah Nuzum and Jessica Simmons.

Funeral arrangements were handled by Collins Funeral Home in Winterset.
