Gertrude Jean Slayden, 59, of the 4300 block of Northwest Fourth Street died of an aneurysm Sunday at Mercy Medical Center. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Highland Park Funeral Home, with burial at Blair Chapel Cemetery near St. Charles.

Mrs. Slayden was born in Des Moines and had lived here most of her life. She was a jewelry associate for Walmart in Ankeny.

She is survived by her husband, Wayne; two daughters, Carol Slayden of Des Moines and Deborah Platt of Eloy, Ariz.; two sons, Ammon of Breckenridge, Colo., and Wayne of Wilmington, N.C.; a brother, Dean Rose of Northridge, Calif.; a sister, Dorothy Boothe of Des Moines; and eight grandchildren.
