George C. Carlson, 87, of the 3300 block of Thompson Avenue died of a stroke Sunday at Hospice Kavanagh House. Memorial services will be at 9 a.m. Wednesday at Unity Lutheran Church. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. at Clark Cemetery in Winterset.

Mr. Carlson had lived in Des Moines all his life. He was a retired vending machine serviceman with Kwik Kafe, a Navy veteran and a member of a bowling league.

He is survived by a son, Richard of Tucson, Ariz.; a daughter, Carolyn Dale of Garden Grove; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marion.

Hamilton's Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
