Wednesday, February 2, 2000Helen Genevieve Shutt, 90, died of a heart attack Jan. 28, 2000, at Mercy Hospital Medical Center in Des Moines.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Feb. 1, at Kale Funeral Home in Truro with Pastor Larry Smith officiating. Burial was at St. Charles cemetery.
Helen Shutt was born June 3, 1909, to William A. and Cora Adel (Grove) Boren of Knoxville. She was educated in the Knoxville schools. A resident of Truro since 1940, she also had lived in the St. Charles and Hanley areas from 1937 to 1940. She married Vern Bryan Shutt on July 18, 1942, in Osceola. A homemaker, Helen was a member of the O.D.O. club and the Broadhorn Church of rural Truro.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two sons, two brothers, and a sister.
She is survived by a daughter, Elizabeth Smith (husband Larry) of Des Moines; a brother, Robert Boren (wife Joy) of Altoona; two grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and four nephews.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the Broadhorn Church of rural Truro.

Helen Genevieve Boren Shutt, 90, of Truro, died of a heart attack Jan. 28, 2000, at Mercy Medical Center. Services were held Feb. 1 at Kale Funeral Home in Truro, with burial in St. Charles Cemetery at St. Charles.
Mrs. Shutt was born in Knoxville and had lived in the St. Charles and Hanley areas before moving to Truro in 1940. She was a homemaker and a member of Broadhorn church near Truro.
Survivors include a daughter, Elizabeth Smith of Des Moines; a brother, Robert Boren of Altoona; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Helen Genevieve Boren Shutt, daughter of William A. Boren and Cora Adel Grove Boren, was born June 3, 1909, in Knoxville and died Jan. 28, 2000, at Mercy Hospital Medical Center in Des Moines. She was 90.
She had lived in St. Charles and Hanley before moving to Truro in 1940. She married Vern Bryan Shutt on July 18, 1942, in Osceola and the couple raised three children, Richard, Elizabeth and Ivan.
Mrs. Shutt was a member of the O.D.O. club as well as the Broadhorn Church near Truro.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 1971; two sons, Richard Jones and Ivan L. Shutt; two brothers Wilbur and Red Boren and a sister Blanche Welty.
Mrs. Shutt is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth Smith and her husband Larry Smith, of Des Moines; two grandchildren, Shawn Smith and his wife, Donna Smith, of West Plains, Mo. and Dawn Jackson and her husband Floyd Jackson, of Truro; five great-grandchildren, Beth, Chad and Sarah Smith of West Plains and Atira and Regan Jackson of Truro; a brother Robert Boren and his wife, Joy Boren, of Altoona; four nephews, Brent, Bert and John Boren of Des Moines and Donald Shutt of Denver, Colo. and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Mrs. Shutt were Feb. 1 at Kale Funeral Home in Truro, Pastor Larry Smith officiating. Organist Doris Johnson accompanied soloist Terry Smith as he sang Beyond the Sunset and Amazing Grace.
Casket bearers were Shawn Smith, Floyd Jackson, Brent Boren, Bert Boren and John Boren. Interment was in the St. Charles Cemetery.
