Wilbur Murphy Services Monday

Wilbur C. Murphy, a resident of Madison county for over half a century, died Friday, October 5, 1973, at Madison County Memorial Hospital. He was 87 years of age.

Mr. Murphy was born August 28, 1886 in Luray, Missouri, the son of Joseph Murphy and the former Sarah Anthony. He was married in 1909 at Luray to Dora Wagner who preceded him in death in 1966. Mr. Murphy remarried in 1967 at St. Charles.

Mr. Murphy was occupied as a farmer and carpenter during his residence in Madison county and was retired at the time of his death. He was affiliated with the United Methodist Church.

Surviving Mr. Murphy is his wife, Esther of St. Charles; one son, Fred Murphy of Winterset; two daughters, Mrs. Katherine Strable and Mrs. Bertha Wilcox, both of Denver, Colorado; seven grandchildren, and several great and great great grandchildren.

Also surviving is a sister, Belle McCabe of Dallas, Illinois. Mr. Murphy was preceded in death by one brother and one sister.

Funeral services were conducted Monday, October 8 at 1:30 p.m. from Collins Funeral Home in Winterset with burial at the Winterset Cemetery.

Officiating was the Rev. W. Eldon Ringle.
